Mi nombre es Alexander Chiti, tengo 41 años y soy de Guatemala. Mi vida era normal hasta hace 12 años, cuando una bala perdida dañó mi columna vertebral, dejándome parapléjico. Este evento cambió radicalmente mi vida.
Me embarqué en un largo camino de terapia y rehabilitación, adaptándome a una vida en silla de ruedas, algo completamente nuevo para mí. Ahora, dedico mi tiempo a motivar a jóvenes que han enfrentado lesiones medulares, accidentes o enfermedades, llevándoles un mensaje de esperanza.
Desafortunadamente, mi silla de ruedas se ha deteriorado con el tiempo debido a los extensos viajes que realizo semanalmente. Por eso, estoy pidiendo ayuda para recaudar fondos y poder adquirir una nueva silla de ruedas que me permita seguir sirviendo a las comunidades más remotas de mi ciudad.

My name is Alexander Chiti and I am 41 years old. I am from Guatemala and led a normal life, working to support my family. However, 12 years ago, I fell victim to a stray bullet that damaged my spinal cord, leaving me with paraplegia, which refers to the paralysis of my legs. This changed my life dramatically.
I had to start a long process of therapy, rehabilitation, and ongoing treatments to move forward, but this time from a wheelchair, a stage I was not accustomed to. Nowadays, I continue forward by giving motivational talks to young people who, like me, have suffered spinal cord injuries, accidents, or illnesses and who for some reason are demotivated, confined to their homes. I bring them a message of encouragement.
Currently, due to the long distances I travel weekly, my wheelchair has deteriorated and has broken over the years. That’s why I am making this request to raise funds and thus be able to buy a new wheelchair to continue carrying out my work with the most remote communities in my city.
